In semester two of 2022 I had the opportunity to co-curate a graduate show for Artsource as my practicum placement, my sole and final unit for my whole degree.

Working on Home/Body was a privileged experience. On a very personal and individual level it allowed me to pour myself into an exhibition and give one last huge push across the finish line. I found it an extremely cathartic experience working on Home/Body and a celebration at the end of a huge year for so many of the exhibiting artists.

Curated by myself and Abby Gleadhill and exhibited from 9 to 13 November 2022 at Artsource.

Home/Body is a personal reflection of the lives and experiences of 2022 WA Fine Art graduates. This exhibition is an intimate depiction of the vulnerable aspects of young people’s lives and with the culmination of femininity, carework, and the queer experience. The selected works are a call home for those craving a sense of belonging and comfort.

The exhibition is an opportunity for artists to showcase new and contemporary works, giving insight to what the most recent group of emerging talent is creating. Artsource has historically supported leading artists and it will present the opportunity for new artists to be introduced to the wider art community, some for the first time. This milestone represents the first step in their emerging careers and an opportunity for the larger art community to engage with their work.

Participating artists:

Bryce Olsen // Emma Purkis // Ghuinneth (Gwen) Dayoc // Indi Middleton // Kasia Kolikow // Lili Renfrey // Rodelle Navarro // Saskia Smart // Yasamin Khadembashi
